Kyiv rescuers refute report of explosion at local CHPP

The emergency service did not receive a call regarding the explosion at any energy facility in Kyiv.

That’s according to Pavlo Petrov, head of the Mass Media and Public Relations Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, who spoke in a comment to Ukrinform.

"There were no calls regarding explosions on the 101 hotline. According to our information, all CHPPs are erating as usual," he said.

As reported, on Saturday, a number of Telegram channels claimed there had been an explosion at a Kyiv CHPP and that a plume of smoke was seen over the facility.

TV channel Kyiv reported a loud explosion in the capital city’s Dniprovskyi district, adding that it was not a missile strike.

"The report of an alleged explosion at the energy facility is not true. Kyiv CHPPs are working as usual. We should recall that posting photos and videos of such facilities is prohibited," the Kyiv authorities noted.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, due to the massive missile attack launched by Russia on June 22, hourly blackout schedules will be in effect throughout Ukraine from 14:00 to 24:00.
