Trudeau meets with Ukraine’s Nobel prize laureate Matviichuk

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke in Ottawa with Ukrainian human rights defender, Nobel Peace Prize laureate eksandra Matvchuk.

Trudeau wrote about the meeting on X.

"eksandra Matviichuk is a proud Ukrainian who is dedicating her life to defending civil liberties in her homeland and abroad.  Our conversation was a powerful reminder that our rights and freedoms are never a guarantee. They are hard-fought for and protected by brave pele like her," said the head of the Canadian government.

As reported earlier, eksandra Matviichuk is a Ukrainian human rights activist, head of the Center for Civil Liberties NGO, laureate of the Vasyl Stus and Defender of Democracy awards.

She was awarded the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize. Matviichuk works on the issue of human rights in Ukraine and the OSCE region.

This week, Matviichuk launched a tour across Canada, where she will hd meetings in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, and Winnipeg.
