At Peace Summit, Canada to focus on return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia
That’s according to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Trudeau will speak to the global community about the importance of making progress in the peace process and pay special attention to the return of children Russia abducted from Ukraine, Trudeau said in Ottawa.
The Prime Minister “will reaffirm Canada’s support for President Vodymyr Zelenskyy’s continued efforts toward a just and sustainable peace,” the Canadian government’s press service reported earlier.
“This includes Canada’s co-leadership of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, as well as its co-chairing of the Peace Formula Working Group Four on the return of prisoners of war, unlawfully detained civilians and illegally deported children,” the report adds.
The Summit will provide a platform for dialogue among nations from different regions of the world on ways to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace for Ukraine, according to the press service.
The prime minister recalled that Canada had been close to Ukraine and Ukrainians and would continue to provide support: both military and infrastructural, as well as everything necessary for Ukraine not only to win the war, but also to continue to prosper and lead in the future.

It should be recalled that since Russia’s full-scale invasion, Canada has already provided Ukraine with various financial, humanitarian, military and other assistance worth more than $10 billion.
The Global Peace Summit will be held in Switzerland on June 15-16. Heads of state and government from all continents are expected to take part. The participating nations will draw a joint negotiating position to submit it to Russia.
The Peace Formula is a diplomatic mechanism offered by Ukraine toward a just end to the war unleashed by Russia.
