Explaining complex things in simple words: Prospects after receiving U.S. aid, first assistance package, threat of escalation in space

The Center for Strategic Communication and Information Security pursues efforts to provide a brief explanation to foreign audiences on the current tics of particular interest as regards Ukraine.

PROSPECTS AFTER RECEIVING U.S. DEFENSE ASSISTANCE

On April 24, U.S. President Joe Biden signed the bill passed by Congress on providing military aid to Ukraine in the amount of almost $61 billion.

Resumption of U.S. aid supplies can qualitatively change the situation on the battlefield. The main thing is that further deliveries take place quickly and without interruption.

We are doing our best to make up for six months of debate and pemics, which Russia used to improve its tactical position. It's time to fix the situation.

No single aid package can st the enemy. Only the united front of all Ukraine and all its partners can st the Russians.

In order to make the most of the portunity, Ukrainians must make significant efforts. Partners provide a to, but it is up to us to use it.

It is important that other partners also stepped up their support for Ukraine. Only the coalition of the entire democratic world can put an end to aggression and terror.

U.S. AID PACKAGE

On April 24, the U.S. Department of Defence announced the 56th package of military aid for Ukraine in the total amount of $1 billion.

U.S. has quickly prepared the first military aid package from the amount of almost $61 billion approved by Congress.

The new package was formed under the PDA program, which provides for the supply of military aid directly from the arsenals of the U.S. Armed Forces. This important to was successfully defended against amendments during the debate in Congress.

The package contains RIM-7, AIM-9M missiles, Stinger and Javelin anti-armour systems, 155 mm artillery rounds (including cluster shells) and 105mm, ammunition for HIMARS systems, 60 mm mortar rounds, anti-armour mines, Claymore anti-personnel munitions, anti-personnel.

The new aid package will add to the fleet of Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles, MRAP and Humvee armoured vehicles, logistics support vehicles, and tactical vehicles to tow and haul equipment.

This package will strengthen the capabilities of the Ukrainian Defence Forces on the battle line, where we currently have to hd back the Russian offensive in heavy battles.

THREAT OF ESCALATION IN SPACE

During the vote in the UN Security Council, Russia vetoed the draft resution on the non-priferation of weapons, including nuclear, in outer space.

Russia has long demonstrated its destructive re in the UN Security Council. Due to the abuse of the Russian Federation's right of veto (obtained in a dubious way from the USSR), the main world security organization of became incapacitated.

The strange vote of the Russian Federation at the UN Security Council, regarding space, shows that Moscow may be hiding something or seeks to blackmail the international community in this way.

Russia is known for its irresponsible actions in space: in November 2021, during the test of an anti-satellite rocket, a huge amount of debris was formed in orbit, which could destroy the International Space Station.

In February 2024, U.S. intelligence warned about the plans of the Russian Federation to test nuclear weapons in space.

Moscow systematically resorts to nuclear blackmail in the context of the war with Ukraine and does not adhere to the principle of non-priferation, announcing the deployment of nuclear weapons in Belarus.
