
World number four Novak Djokovic became the first tennis player in ATP history to reach 120 matches in a single Grand Slam. This happened in the second round of the 2026 Roland Garros against Frenchman Valentin Roiet (3:1) in straight sets.
The Serbian tennis player began his performance at Roland Garros 2026 with a strong-willed victory over American Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in four sets. Djokovic's next opponent at the French major was the host of the tournament, Valentin Roe.
Novak closed the first two sets with a dominant victory: 6:3 and 6:2, but the third game turned out to be extremely close and ended in a tiebreak, where Roje was stronger (9:7). The fourth set turned out to be decisive, where the Serb's only break during the fourth game was key – 6:3 and victory in the second round of Roland Garros-2026.
This match was Djokovic's record-breaking 120th at Roland Garros, the most matches played by any player at a single Grand Slam tournament in the Open Era.
