Supervisory boards will have more influence on the appointment of heads of vocational colleges of Ukraine — Ministry of Education

From now on, supervisory boards will have more influence on the appointment of heads of Ukrainian vocational colleges. To this end, the Ministry of Education has approved a standard regulation on the competition for the position of head of a vocational education institution.

This was reported by the press service of the department.

They explained that this introduces a single procedure for conducting competitions for all founders:

  • in institutions where a supervisory board must be established, it will determine the winner of the competition;
  • candidates will be interviewed and present the institution's development programs to the supervisory board;
  • The supervisory boards will recommend the winner of the competition to the founder for appointment as the head of the institution.

The Ministry of Education noted that the duration of the competition is limited to two months.

The head of a vocational education institution will be elected according to a new procedure starting September 12, 2026. It is expected that the new model will strengthen the influence of supervisory boards in the development of vocational education institutions.
