Ukraine is calling on the EU to become more actively involved in negotiations to end the war with Russia and is discussing new formats for the diplomatic process. Kyiv is emphasizing the need for a “new dynamic” and a greater role for European partners in possible negotiations.
This was reported to the BBC by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga.
Ukraine proposes a new approach to negotiations with Russia
Ukraine calls on the European Union to become more actively involved in the negotiation process to end the war with Russia. This issue is planned to be discussed in detail during an informal meeting of the heads of foreign ministries of European countries in Cyprus.
At the same time, the EU is already discussing the possible resumption of contacts with Moscow on the Ukrainian issue, against the backdrop of the removal of the US from the role of mediator and the intensification of Russian attacks.

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister noted that Kyiv seeks to bring a certain “new dynamic” to the negotiation process.
We need to move to a new format of negotiations with the Russian side,
– said Sibiga during a recent telephone conversation.
The diplomat proposed “more active participation of the European side” in the peace process.
Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel and former Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi are reportedly among the potential candidates for the role of mediator. However, Sibiga did not name any specific names.
In a statement to the BBC, Draghi's spokesman said he “prefers not to comment at this stage.”
This week, Finnish President Alexander Stubb said he “probably would not be able to say no” if he were offered the task, but only after Russia agrees to a ceasefire.
As a reminder, on May 26, the Foreign Minister stated that Ukraine is ready for a local ceasefire with the enemy. This refers to point ceasefires that could cover various areas. Among the possible options are “airport”, “energy” or “port”.
