Lavrov informed Rubio about plans for “systemic strikes” on Kyiv

Russia has declared to the US its intention to carry out “systematic and consistent strikes” on facilities in Kyiv that are allegedly used for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as on “decision-making centers.”

This was discussed during a telephone conversation between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on May 25.

During the conversation, Lavrov, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry, conveyed the Kremlin's position on the Ukrainian conflict and stated that in response to attacks on Russian territory, the Russian armed forces are allegedly “launching systematic and consistent strikes” on facilities in Kyiv that are used for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as on so-called “decision-making centers.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry also stated that Lavrov drew the attention of the American side to the recommendations regarding the evacuation of diplomatic personnel from Kyiv, which were addressed to the United States and other states.

Separately, the parties discussed diplomatic initiatives to resolve the situation around the Strait of Hormuz and the situation around Cuba.

In addition, Lavrov and Rubio confirmed their intention to continue the dialogue on the normalization of the work of diplomatic missions of Russia and the United States.
