Russia threatens to systematically strike at facilities in Kyiv / Collage of Channel 24

After the massive attack on Kyiv on May 24, the Russians are not letting up and are threatening to strike the Ukrainian capital again. On the evening of May 25, it became known about the cynical conversation between Sergei Lavrov and Marco Rubio.

The details are reported by the Russian publication RBC.

What did Lavrov say to Rubio about the strikes on Kyiv?

The Russian Foreign Minister allegedly called US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Lavrov conveyed to the American side information about the intention of the Russian military to launch “systematic and consistent strikes” on decision-making centers located in Kyiv and facilities used for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,
– the publication quotes the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the Russians, their strikes are intended to be “a response to the terrorist attacks by the Kyiv regime against civilians and civilian objects on Russian territory.”

Pay attention! Russia's statement is cynical – after all, the enemy had already systematically attacked Kyiv. But the occupiers made a fool of themselves, because they had previously said that they were attacking military facilities. Although Ukraine called the attacks terrorist and demonstrated that they were strikes on kindergartens, schools, hospitals, and residential buildings. And with this statement by Lavrov, the Russians seem to be signing off on the fact that until then they had not actually attacked military facilities.

The Russian Foreign Ministry website describes the conversation in detail. It explains that Putin instructed the Americans to provide information about future “systematic and consistent” strikes on Kyiv. However, it does not say anything about Rubio's reaction to Moscow's threats.

Instead, it states that the parties “confirmed the mutual willingness, despite known differences, to intensify efforts to normalize the working conditions of diplomatic missions of Russia and the United States on each other's territory.”

Lavrov drew attention to the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry dated May 25, in which the United States, along with other states that have representations in Kyiv, was recommended to ensure the evacuation of its diplomatic personnel and other citizens from the Ukrainian capital,
– the Russians repeated their threats to the West.

Lavrov also expressed regret that the agreements between Russia and the United States in Anchorage regarding the “Ukrainian conflict” were never implemented. He blamed the failure on “the faltering efforts of the European elites and the Kyiv regime.”

They also talked about Cuba and the Strait of Hormuz.

Why do Western embassies need to leave Kyiv?

The strikes on Kyiv on May 24 were called revenge for Starobilsk in Moscow – allegedly the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck a college with teenagers on May 22. But there is testimony online from the students themselves, saying that they are all studying remotely, and “some soldiers lived in the building.”

Maria Zakharova stated on May 25 that Russia had run out of patience and would attack Kyiv's defense enterprises. Therefore, she advised foreign diplomats to leave Kyiv.

On the evening of May 25, they announced that they were not going to leave. And the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called the Russian threats blackmail.
