Rico Verhoeven's trainer Peter Fury has called on Oleksandr Usyk for a rematch after their tense fight and controversial ending to their WBC heavyweight title fight.
The Usyk-Verhoeven fight went 11 rounds, with the Ukrainian ending the tight fight with a technical knockout to earn his 26th professional victory. The referee awarded Oleksandr the early victory with one second left in the 11th round.
Rico's TKO was preceded by a knockdown: after a series of punches from Usyk, the Dutchman fell to his knees. And although he managed to get up and continue the fight, the Ukrainian continued to press with a series of punches, forcing the referee to end the fight.
