Ukrainian producers continue to raise selling prices for high-quality carrots amid strong demand and limited supply. Stocks of quality root vegetables in storage are rapidly dwindling, pushing the market higher.
Why are carrot prices rising again?
In Ukraine, carrot producers have been raising prices for quality products for the second week in a row, EastFruit reports. Analysts say the key factors behind the price increase remain high demand from wholesale companies and retail chains, as well as a limited supply of quality carrots.
Currently, carrot sales are carried out in the price range of 8 to 14 hryvnias per 1 kilogram, which corresponds to 0.19–0.33 US dollars per 1 kilogram. On average, this is 26 percent more expensive than at the end of the previous working week. At the same time, some farmers who have equipped storage facilities are holding back the sale of products, expecting further price increases.
Despite the current price increase, carrots on the Ukrainian market are still sold on average 63 percent cheaper than in the same period last year. Experts attribute this situation to storage problems that many farms faced due to the deterioration of the quality of the harvest. The reason was unfavorable weather conditions during the carrot harvest in the fall of 2025.
