Xi Jinping to visit the US in the fall

Chinese leader Xi Jinping will visit the United States this fall at the request of President Donald Trump.

This was stated by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to state media, CNN reports.

He called the meeting between Xi and Trump in Beijing historic.

“This was an important meeting, at which the heads of the two states held in-depth communication and achieved substantial results,” Wang Yi said.

The Minister separately noted progress in the trade and economic sphere.

According to him, the participants in the trade negotiations achieved “overall balanced and positive results, including the continued implementation of all consensuses reached in previous consultations.”

China and the United States have discussed agricultural market access and expanding trade through mutual tariff reductions. The two countries also agreed to establish a trade and investment council.

Trump arrived in Beijing on May 13. More than a dozen executives from American companies flew to China with him, including Apple CEO Tim Cook, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.

On May 14, US President Donald Trump met with President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China (PRC) in Beijing. They discussed trade between the countries, the US war against Iran and other conflicts, and Taiwan.

Following his visit to Beijing, Trump said that China would buy oil from the United States. China did not comment on Trump's statement.

This is the first state visit by an American president to China in almost nine years – Trump's previous visit was in November 2017 during his first term as president.
