Olympic running champion Sha'Kerry Richardson has been arrested for speeding, BBC Sport reported.
The 25-year-old track and field athlete was taken to a police station in Orange, Florida on Thursday, January 25. Richardson was arrested and charged with reckless driving and speeding over 104 mph. 167 km/h .
A spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff's Department told BBC Sport that Richardson was driving at a high rate of speed, swerving across lanes to pass other drivers. As a result, bail was set at $500.
Under current state law, drivers can be fined up to $1,000 and required to appear in court if they are charged with exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 miles per hour. 80 km/h , as well as imprisonment or loss of driving license for repeated violations.
This is not the first offense for 25-year-old Richardson. In August 2025, the American was arrested on charges of domestic violence, but was released the next day. Richardson also missed the Olympics in Tokyo because her tests showed traces of drugs.
