Prices for last year's white cabbage in Ukraine have risen sharply this week. The reason was a shortage of products amid declining farm stocks and consistently high demand.
Farmers sharply raised cabbage prices
In Ukraine, prices for white cabbage of the 2025 harvest began to rise rapidly. As EastFruit analysts report, the market has entered an upward trend due to a seasonal reduction in the supply of vegetables.
Currently, producers are selling last year's cabbage for 8-15 hryvnias per kilogram. On average, this is 75% more expensive than a week ago. At the same time, demand for the vegetable remains high, which allows farmers to continue to revise prices upwards.
There are fewer and fewer vegetables from the 2025 harvest on the market
Market participants attribute the price increase to a shortage of products. Most Ukrainian farms have already completed sales of cabbage from the 2025 harvest, and those farmers who still have vegetables are selling only the remaining batches.
Despite the current price increase, white cabbage is still 77% cheaper on average than at the beginning of May last year. At the same time, sellers do not rule out that prices will continue to rise, as the volume of products on the market is rapidly decreasing.
