One of the leaders of the Giro d'Italia withdrew from the multi-day event after a fall and concussion

British cyclist Adam Yates has withdrawn from the Giro d'Italia after suffering a concussion in a massive crash on the second stage of the multi-day race on a wet section of the route, Yates' UAE Team Emirates has announced, BBC Sport reports.

The accident occurred 20 kilometers from the end of the stage, exiting a fast right-hand bend. Several cyclists fell on the wet road and crashed into barriers, causing those behind them to fall as well.
