Juvenile prosecutors of the Buchanan District Prosecutor's Office have filed charges against a 59-year-old man. He is suspected of sexually assaulting a girl.
This was reported today, May 6, by the press service of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to the investigation, on September 9, 2025, a man was at home in the village of Voronkivka, Buchansky district. He committed violent acts against his 9-year-old cousin.
“The suspect lured the girl to the attic, where he forced her to touch his genitals. The girl broke free and told her mother everything, and reported the crime to law enforcement officers,” the prosecutor's office reported.
Law enforcement officers informed him of suspicion in February of this year under Part 4 of Article 153 Committing violent acts of a sexual nature committed against a person under the age of fourteen under the Criminal Code of Ukraine. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
It was previously reported that in the Obukhiv region, the Kaharlytskyi District Court sentenced a 32-year-old local resident for three years of sexual abuse of his 8-year-old niece. He was sentenced to life imprisonment.
The Kyiv Court of Appeals has increased the sentence of a 35-year-old man who tried to rape an 8-year-old boy in a school toilet in Podil. The first-instance court sentenced him to 6 years and 6 months in prison. Juvenile prosecutors have appealed, demanding a longer sentence. The new sentence is 10 years behind bars.
