Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called on foreign diplomats to evacuate Kyiv ahead of a Russian “retaliatory strike on decision-making centers” if Moscow is attacked during the Kremlin-declared ceasefire.
This was reported by the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
According to Zakharova, the Russian Foreign Ministry sent a warning note to diplomatic missions and representatives of international organizations.
“The Russian Foreign Ministry calls on the authorities of your country/the leadership of your organization to treat this statement with maximum responsibility and ensure the early evacuation of the personnel of diplomatic and other representations, as well as citizens, from the city of Kyiv in connection with the inevitability of the task of the Russian Armed Forces to retaliate against Kyiv, in particular against decision-making centers, in the event that the Kyiv regime implements its criminal terrorist plans during the days of the celebration of the Great Victory,” Zakharova said.
At the end of April, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, in a conversation with US President Donald Trump, announced Russia's readiness for a “truce” with Ukraine on Victory Day. Trump, in turn, supported this proposal.
Already on May 4, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced a “truce” from May 8 to 9. On the same day, Zelensky declared a regime of silence on the night of May 5 to 6, emphasizing that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would act “mirror-like” if Russian troops violated it.
Zelenskyy said that since Moscow has disrupted the ceasefire proposed by Kyiv, the Ukrainian side will decide on further actions.
