Ukrainian boxer Lapin will fight on the undercard of the boxing evening Usyk – Verhoeven

Ukrainian boxer Daniel Lapin will fight on the undercard of the WBC world title fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Rico Verhoeven, The Ring reported.

The holder of the IBF Intercontinental, WBA Continental and WBO International light heavyweight titles, Lapin will face Frenchman Benjamin Mendes Tani. In this fight, the Ukrainian will defend his championship belts.

The Lapin-Tani fight will take place on May 23 in Egypt against the backdrop of the Giza pyramids. It is there that the boxing evening will be held, the main event of which will be a fight for the WBC heavyweight world champion title between Oleksandr Usyk and Rico Verhoeven.

In addition to the Lapin-Tanya fight, the Usyk-Verhoeven undercard will feature eight more fights. In Usyk's weight class, a fight will take place between Cuban Frank Sanchez and American Richard Torres, in which the first challenger for the IBF world title will be at stake. The fight between them was supposed to take place on March 28, but due to Sanchez's injury, it had to be postponed.

Daniel Lapin last entered the ring in March 2026. The Ukrainian took part in a boxing dinner organized by Oleksandr Usyk's promotion company. The 28-year-old boxer defeated Latvian Kristaps Bulmeisters in the first round.

The boxing evening, featuring Daniel Lapin and Oleksandr Usyk, will take place on Saturday, May 23.
