Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the supply of anti-ballistic missiles to Ukraine under the PURL (Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List) program will continue.

The President of Ukraine announced this on Monday, May 4, after a conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, which took place in Yerevan on the sidelines of the European Political Community (EPC) summit.

What weapons will Ukraine receive?

Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Mark Rutte discussed the implementation of the PURL program and attracting new contributions from partners.

It is important that there is confirmation from Mark (Rutte, – 24 Channel) that the program is working and anti-ballistic missiles will continue to be supplied to Ukraine,

According to the president, it is also important to deepen defense cooperation between Ukraine and NATO members, implement joint projects, and work on joint production.

Separately, Zelensky thanked for Ukraine's support in the fight against Russian aggression and participation in the PURL program, which helps defend against Russian ballistic attacks.

PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) is a joint initiative of the United States and NATO aimed at providing Ukraine with critical weapons through targeted financing of supplies from the United States. Within the framework of this program, partner countries transfer funds to a common fund in accordance with a list of priority needs agreed with Ukraine, the United States and NATO. This mechanism allows for better coordination of assistance, acceleration of procurement and more efficient delivery to the front of weapons that are difficult to replace with European analogues.

As a reminder, on May 4, Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Yerevan: this is the first visit of the President of Ukraine to Armenia in 24 years.

The European Political Community Summit is taking place in Yerevan, with over 30 European leaders and the Prime Minister of Canada present. Among the participants are: Emmanuel Macron, Keir Starmer, George Maloney, Jonas Gahr Steere, Donald Tusk, Petteri Orpo, Mark Carney, Antonio Costa, Ursula von der Leyen, and Mark Rutte.

In addition to Mark Rutte, Volodymyr Zelensky also met with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. According to the president, Ukraine is open to a constructive dialogue with Slovakia and is interested in developing strong relations.

The leaders of the countries have already discussed cooperation in various areas and holding a meeting of governments in the format of an intergovernmental commission.

Military aid for Ukraine: latest news

  • On April 30, it was announced that the Pentagon had released $400 million in military aid to Ukraine that had previously been approved by Congress, after weeks of pressure from US lawmakers demanding an explanation for the delay.
