Lviv celebrates its 770th birthday. On the occasion of the holiday, various events are taking place in the city from May 1 to 3.
Yesterday, the people of Lviv were greeted by the Ukrainian indie band “Odyn v Kanoe”. The musicians performed on the roof of the Town Hall. The concert was organized by the European Youth Capital Office of the Lviv City Council.
The concert of the band “Odyn v Kanoe” was not announced in advance, it was announced on the day of the performance. Despite this, the entire Rynok Square was filled with people who came to listen to the band, which hails from Lviv.
Today it is an incredible honor for us to perform in our native, beloved city, to congratulate it on its birthday. This city has given us so much, and today we have a wonderful opportunity to share our music with you and with it,
– Iryna Shvaydak, vocalist of “Alone in a Canoe”, addressed the audience at the beginning of the performance.
The band began the concert with a moment of silence for the fallen defenders who gave their lives for Ukraine. Iryna also called on people to join a joint gathering with the “Return Alive” foundation.
The first song performed by “Odin v Kanoe” was “Podobaetsya, kat ti ydydesh”. Other popular tracks of the group were also heard from the balcony of the Town Hall, including “Nebo”, “Poobitsyay meni”, “Bud meni kimos”, “Malenkyy bolshoi”.
At the end of the concert, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi came out to the band. He handed the vocalist a bouquet of flowers and addressed the audience.
This is a unique concert, this year only one and only for you on the occasion of Lviv's birthday – 770 years. We start today and it will last a long time. Thank you for the fact that the sky is without rain today. Thank you to our military. You are beautiful, I love you. Glory to Lviv! Glory to Ukraine!,

What is known about the band “One in a Canoe”?
The band “Odyn v Kanoe” was founded in 2010 in Lviv. The first solo performance took place on November 27 of the same year, during which the artists presented their first songs.
During their career, the band has performed not only in Ukraine but also abroad. The current lineup of the band includes vocalist Iryna Shvaydak, guitarist Ustym Pokhmursky, and session drummer Igor Dzikovsky.
The debut album of the same name “Alone in a Canoe” was released in 2016 and consists of two discs. In support of the collection, the band went on a tour of Ukraine. The second album was released in 2020.
