Five teams advanced to the playoffs of the Men's Volleyball Champions League after the fourth round matches: results and tables

The main European club volleyball tournament, the Men's Champions League, has concluded its fourth round of group stage matches. Five teams managed to advance to the playoffs.

The fourth round matches in the Men's Champions League lasted three days – from January 27 to 29. During this period, 10 matches were played in five groups.

Three teams, including Ukrainian volleyball players, took part in the matches of the fourth round of the Champions League: Oleg Plotnytskyi (“Perugia”), Yuriy Semenyuk (“Project Warsaw”), and Serhiy Yevstratov (“Lions”).

How was the fourth round of the Men's Volleyball Champions League?

  • Five teams have already secured their place in the Champions League playoffs. All from different groups: Ankara (Group A), LUK Lublin (Group B), Perugia (Group C), Warta (Group D), and Lube Civitanova (Group E) have secured top-2 finishes ahead of schedule.
  • In the fourth round, two of the three Ukrainian teams won: Perugia, thanks to Oleg Plotnytsky's top performance (16 points and the MVP title), defeated Las Palmas, and Yuriy Semenyuk's Project Warsaw took revenge on Montpellier in three sets. Only Serhiy Yevstratov's Lions suffered defeats – in four games against Berlin.
  • Two of the 10 matches in the fourth round ended in a tiebreak: LUK Lublin made a comeback in the match against Roeselare, having won 0:2 after the opening two games. However, the most dramatic match was between Trentino and Tour: the Italian team also made a comeback from 0:2, while winning the tiebreak only by a margin of 28:26.
