The capital's law enforcement officers completed the investigation and sent the case materials to the court regarding a man who sold non-existent generators and a summer house for over 3.2 million hryvnias.
This was reported on April 30 by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
A 38-year-old resident of the Kyiv region will appear in court.
According to the investigation, from July 2025 to January 2026, he placed fake ads on online platforms for the sale of generators, for which demand was increased due to electricity problems. He also sold cabins and equipment for lifting loads.
“In correspondence with potential buyers, the man sent invoices for full payment of orders, indicating bank accounts under his control. After receiving the money, the man did not contact them again,” the prosecutor's office said in a statement.
The fraudster managed to defraud 31 buyers, including a military serviceman.
The man was suspected of misappropriating funds of citizens and enterprises through fraud committed on a particularly large scale — Part 5, Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
