Belgium joins the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine

The Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the country is joining the expanded partial agreement on the establishment of the Special Tribunal for Ukraine against Russia.

The Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported this on the social network X.

“Belgium joins the Special Tribunal for the Investigation of the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine. This tribunal was established within the framework of the Council of Europe and has a mandate to prosecute high-ranking political and military leaders for the crime of aggression against Ukraine,” the country said in a statement.

On May 14-15 in Chisinau, the Council of Europe is to take the next step towards launching the Special Tribunal and conclude an agreement on its steering committee.

The first 20 countries have already confirmed their intention to join: Austria, Great Britain, Iceland, Spain, Estonia, Costa Rica, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Moldova, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Slovenia, Poland, Portugal, France, Croatia, Sweden and Ukraine.
