The Anti-Corruption Council announced Umerov's possible connections with sanctioned businesses

There is a possible connection between former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, sanctioned businessman Timur Mindich, and the Fire Point company.

This was reported by the Public Anti-Corruption Council under the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The statement states that, according to materials allegedly in the possession of anti-corruption authorities, the actual owner of the Fire Point company may be Timur Mindich or he may be one of the beneficiaries. At the same time, these allegations currently have no legal confirmation in the form of a court decision.

The Defense Ministry's GAR also notes that if such data is confirmed, the Fire Point company may lose the opportunity to participate in the supply of products to the Defense Forces of Ukraine due to Mindich's sanction status. Separately, possible violations in the declaration of the company's beneficial structure are indicated.

The statement emphasizes that the situation has both a legal and managerial dimension, since the company's products, according to the council, are used to meet defense needs. It also emphasizes the need to comply with the law while simultaneously ensuring continuity of supplies to the front.

The GAR of the Ministry of Internal Affairs expresses the position that the actions of individual individuals may contain signs of criminal offenses, in particular abuse of power or influence, however, the final legal assessment should be provided by law enforcement and judicial authorities.

Separately, the council calls for the removal of Rustem Umerov from the position of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council and the initiation of an audit of contracts with the Fire Point company. It also proposes the creation of an interdepartmental working group with the participation of the military and anti-corruption agencies to review the agreements and pricing.

On April 29, the editorial office of “Ukrainska Pravda” announced that it had received some of the “Mindich tapes” from sources in political circles. Investigative journalist Mykhailo Tkach voiced the transcripts of the video recordings and announced the publication of the next series.

The press service of the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov responded to the investigation by “Ukrainska Pravda” about the so-called “Mindich tapes”, which allegedly contain his voice. The commentary emphasized that the authenticity and completeness of any recordings should be established by law enforcement agencies, and Umerov had already provided explanations to investigators in November 2025.
