A “major general” was detained in Kyiv who promised a man $15,000 to help him obtain a “correct” VLK conclusion

The Shevchenko District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv has reported a 49-year-old local resident to the police for suspicion. He is accused of abuse of influence and aiding the illegal transfer of a conscript abroad.

This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.

According to the investigation materials, the suspect introduced himself as a major general. He said that he was temporarily working in an ordinary position in one of the CCC and SP, so he could help the conscript with passing the VLK.

“The man was to be declared unfit for service and discharged, and then he could go abroad. The price of such assistance is $15,000,” the report says.

The suspect was detained while receiving part of the amount — $10,000. His membership card for a public organization fighting corruption in government agencies was confiscated, the prosecutor's office reported.

“At the same time, it was established that the detainee has no connection to the CCC, and his military rank was “assigned” to him by a public organization,” the report says.

The suspect's actions were classified under Part 3 of Art. 369-2, Part 3 of Art. 332 Abuse of influence and facilitation of illegal transfer of a conscript abroad of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum sanction of the articles provides for up to nine years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years with confiscation of property. The court chose a preventive measure for the suspect – detention in custody with the right to post bail in the amount of 998 thousand UAH.

It was previously reported that law enforcement officers have filed charges against a family doctor. She is suspected of facilitating the illegal transfer of a man who was conscripted into the military across the state border of Ukraine. The investigation found that the defendant helped the man with the execution of medical documents. They were to become the basis for obtaining the third group of disability.

Also in Kyiv, a 34-year-old man was detained on suspicion of selling fictitious disabilities for $9,000 through online ads. The suspect posted an ad on OLX about helping conscripts remove themselves from military service and obtain fictitious disabilities. The man claimed that he had connections among medical professionals and officials of military medical commissions and could influence their decisions.
