Selling firearms from the combat zone: law enforcement officers suspect a 42-year-old Kyiv resident

Law enforcement officers reported the suspicion to a 42-year-old Kyiv resident. According to the case materials, he was selling firearms that he found in the combat zone.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Kyiv.

The investigation established that the suspect was looking for “clients” who wanted to buy weapons over the Internet. After full payment, the suspect sent them the goods by mail.

“In particular, he asked his wife to take packages to the post office to send to customers. Law enforcement officers documented the dealer's sale of a submachine gun and a rifle. The amounts received from illegal sales ranged from 7 to 18 thousand hryvnias per unit,” the report says.

The police informed that the weapon was a trophy – the suspect found it in the combat zone. The man was informed of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal handling of weapons. The maximum sanction of the article provides for up to seven years in prison.

It was previously reported that law enforcement officers in the Bila Tserkva region exposed a 35-year-old man. According to the case materials, the suspect illegally purchased and stored unified grenade fuses at home, after which he sold them for 1,000 hryvnias. The police also established that the suspect sold two hand offensive grenades and two fuses for 5,000 hryvnias.
