
A man who broke into a dinner party at night intended to open fire on US President Donald Trump and administration officials.
White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt wrote about this in X.
“What was supposed to be a fun evening at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner with President Trump cracking jokes and celebrating free speech was disrupted by a madman trying to kill the president and as many administration officials as possible,” she wrote.
Levitt noted that she was with the president and first lady backstage after the U.S. Secret Service quickly evacuated them.
“President Trump has been truly fearless, but as he said last night, this political violence must stop,” the spokeswoman said.
On the evening of April 25, US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were urgently evacuated from the White House Correspondents' Association dinner in Washington after a gunman opened fire with a rifle at security personnel.
