Girona with Tsygankov continued their winless streak in La Liga: how the Ukrainian played

Girona, led by Ukrainian winger Viktor Tsygankov, suffered their second consecutive defeat in the Spanish La Liga. In the match of the 32nd round, the Catalans lost to Valencia with a score of 1:2.

Tsygankov started for Girona in the Spanish league match against Valencia. In the match of the 32nd round, the winger was the only representative of the Ukrainian national team in the Catalan team – Vladislav Vanat ended the season early due to injury, and goalkeeper Vladislav Krapivtsov remained on the bench.

The teams played the first 45 minutes without scoring any goals. But in the fifth minute of the second half, Belgian striker Larji Ramazani took advantage of a pass from midfielder Xavi Guerra and scored against Girona. And in the 59th minute, Nigerian forward Umar Sadiq doubled his team's lead.

Girona managed to reduce the gap in the 63rd minute of the match, when defender Alejandro Frances, breaking through on the right flank, crossed into the Valencia penalty area and Joel Roca sent the ball into the net.

As a result, the match ended with a minimal defeat for “Girona” with a score of 1:2. Tsygankov spent all 90 minutes on the field, during which he had one shot on goal, made one successful dribbling attempt, and also won an aerial duel. The Ukrainian also has 27 passes, of which 18 were accurate.

Thus, the Ukrainian team extended its streak of wins in the Spanish championship to three matches — a draw and two losses. The Catalans dropped to 14th place in the standings, with 38 points after 33 matches.

In the 2025/26 season, Tsygankov scored eight goals and provided four assists in 29 matches. In terms of performance in La Liga, the Ukrainian is the team's second-highest scorer in the season.

Girona's next match will be in the Spanish championship against Mallorca. The game will take place on Friday, May 1, at 22:00 Kyiv time.
