The reigning Olympic hammer throw champion, Canadian Ethan Katzberg, updated the world's best result of the season in his first start of 2026.
Katzberg last competed at the world championships in September 2025. The Canadian hammer thrower broke an 18-year-old world championship record with a throw of 84.70 metres on his second attempt. It was also his career best and a Canadian national record.
