Zelensky arrived in Azerbaijan and met with the country's President Aliyev

President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived on an official visit to Azerbaijan on April 25. There, he met with the country's leader, Ilham Aliyev.

Journalists were informed about the arrival of the head of state to Azerbaijan by the President's Office, Suspilne reports.

They said that Zelenskyy heard a report from the Ukrainian military, who shared Ukrainian experience and expertise in protecting the sky.

As the president himself stated, since Ukraine has “special security experience” that can help others, Kyiv is already working in three directions on this issue.

“The Middle East and the Gulf region, the European Union, and specifically with Azerbaijan. In addition to security cooperation, we will work today to deepen cooperation in energy, economics, and the humanitarian track,” he added.

Zelensky later announced that he had met with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliyev.

“Important negotiations. Mutual respect and cooperation that strengthens both our peoples,” he added.

The Aliyev administration informed that the face-to-face meeting of politicians took place in the city of Gabala.

On April 24, Zelensky visited Saudi Arabia, where he met with Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman Al Saud. They discussed defense, energy, and food cooperation between Kyiv and Riyadh.

Prior to that, the president attended the EU leaders' summit in Cyprus, where he participated in an informal meeting of the European Council.

In March, Zelenskyy said that 228 Ukrainian specialists were in the Middle East, helping local air defense forces combat Iranian strike drones. According to him, Ukraine had received 11 requests from Iran's neighbors, European states, and the United States for security support in countering Iranian “shaheeds” and other similar challenges.
