White House: US representatives went to talks with Iran “at the personal request” of the Iranian government

Trump administration spokeswoman Caroline Levitt said the Iranian government had “personally” requested talks with U.S. officials. On April 25, U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner will fly to Pakistan for talks with Iran.

Caroline Levitt told reporters about this, a correspondent for Suspilny reports.

“The Iranians want to talk in person. And so the president, as I've said to all of you many, many times, is always willing to give diplomacy a chance. So Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are going to Pakistan tomorrow to listen to the Iranians. We hope that progress will be made, and we hope that this meeting will lead to positive developments,” said Caroline Levitt.

She reported that US Vice President J.D. Vance, who is participating in the negotiations with Iran, is staying in the US this time. Other members of the negotiating team are also staying in the US.

“Of course, everyone will be ready to fly to Pakistan if necessary,” Levitt added.
