Ukrainian Dombrovska won three bronze medals at the 2026 European Weightlifting Championships

Ukrainian weightlifter Iryna Dombrovska won three bronze medals at the 2026 European Championships. The Ukrainian took third place in the snatch, clean and jerk, and in total points.

The continental weightlifting championship continued in Batumi, Georgia. On the fifth day of the competition, Ukraine was represented in the weight category up to 77 kg, where Iryna Dombrovska competed.

In 2025, Dombrovska took part in the European Youth Championship. Then, according to the results of the competition, the athlete became the vice-champion of Europe, and one kilogram separated the Ukrainian from the “gold”. This year, Iryna was able to climb the podium of the adult European Championship.

How was the competition?

  • In the snatch, the Ukrainian lifted a barbell of 110 kg. According to this indicator, Dombrovska became third among all athletes, losing to the leader Janetta Julisoyni from Finland by only three kilograms.
  • Dombrovska won the second “small bronze” in the clean and jerk, showing a result of 133 kg. The Ukrainian was also separated from the “gold” by three kilograms, and the victory was won by the Armenian Anna Amroyan.
  • The Ukrainian showed the third overall result in terms of points — 243 kg. The victory after two exercises was won by the Finn Janette Julisoini with a result of 247 kg.

European Championship-2026. Women, 77 kg

  1. Janette Julisoini (Finland) — 113 kg (jerk) + 134 (clean) = 247 kg (total)
  2. Varvara Kuzminova — 112 kg + 132 kg = 244 kg
  3. Iryna Dombrovska (Ukraine) — 110 kg + 133 kg = 243 kg

As a result of the competition, Dombrovska won two “small” and a “large” bronze medal. Thanks to this, the Ukrainian national team already has 11 European Championship medals (including “small” awards).
