A series of explosions were heard in Sumy on the night of April 21. The city was under massive attack by strike drones.
It is already known that drones targeted a residential area, and a medical facility was also damaged. This was reported by the head of the Sumy OVA, Oleh Hrygorov, and the acting mayor of Sumy, Artem Kobzar.
What is known about the massive attack on Sumy?
At 1:19 a.m., the Air Force announced that a group of UAVs was moving toward the city. By 1:23 a.m., the city was already noisy. A series of explosions continued for about 10 minutes.
In addition, Suspilne reported that a fire broke out in Sumy.
At 2:17 a.m., another explosion was heard in the city. At the same time, Artem Kobzar noted that the attack on the city is ongoing and there is a threat of repeated strikes. He also called on everyone to take shelter or stay in safe places.
What are the consequences of the attack?
According to Grigorov, Russian drones targeted a residential area. As a result, high-rise buildings and civilian vehicles were damaged. Head of the Sumy MVA Serhiy Kryvosheyenko adds that infrastructure facilities were damaged.

Artem Kobzar clarified that more than 5 hits were recorded in one of the residential areas of the Zarichny district. Cars were burning there and windows were broken in a nearby house.
Grigorov also reported that another UAV hit the territory of a medical facility. According to information from Kobzar, it landed on its roof.
Information about the victims and other consequences is being clarified. All relevant services are working on the scene. Residents of the affected buildings are offered to spend the night in shelters at schools No. 6 and 24 and kindergarten No. 14. The Disaster Relief Headquarters will be open from 9:00 a.m.

How many people were injured?
Kryvosheyenko initially reported that 4 people were injured, including a 17-year-old child. She and two men were hospitalized. Another person was treated at the scene.
Later, the Sumy regional police noted that at least 6 victims were known.
This morning, Oleg Hrygorov provided updated data on the casualties. Thus, 15 residents of Sumy were injured as a result of the night UAV attack.
Among the injured are three children : girls aged 13, 15, and 17. They and two other people have been hospitalized.
At the same time, most of the victims of the night attack by Russian drones are elderly people. Doctors continue to provide medical care. Most of these are cases of acute stress reactions.
As of the evening of April 22, the number of injured has increased again. The city council reported 39 injured people , 25 of whom are children . Six children are currently hospitalized.

Important! On the afternoon of April 20, Russia also struck Kharkiv. A hit was recorded in the Osnovyanskyi district. The attack shattered windows in apartment buildings and private houses and damaged the power grid. In addition, at least 7 people were injured: a 48-year-old man, women aged 50 and 43, and a 17-year-old girl were taken to the hospital.
