Presently, the rate of tuberculosis occurrence has not risen in Ukraine, contrary to expectations given the conflict, but cases of extrapulmonary tuberculosis are being observed. This information comes from Volodymyr Kurpita, the Director General of the Center for Public Health (CPH), during an interview on the “Doctor Bulavinova” YouTube channel, UNN reports.

Simultaneously, he stated that resistance to antibiotics is growing rapidly within Ukraine. He further noted that Ukrainians are living amid a war and are consistently exposed to hazards linked to infrastructure damage.

We must contemplate approaches to tackle this nationwide, bearing in mind that all contemporary strategies aimed at curbing hospital infections stemming from inappropriate antibiotic usage demand significant staffing, which we lack physically. Therefore, we must seek innovative solutions and fresh perspectives.
