
All matches of the second round in Division IA of the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship have been completed. Following their results, there have been changes in the standings of the Ukrainian group.
Ukraine U18 is competing for a place in the elite division at this year's World Championship with the national teams of Switzerland, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Poland and Slovenia. The results of five matches will determine the winner of the group, who will be promoted to the next season's class.

After winning the opening round against Slovenia, Ukraine U18 faced Hungary. The “blue and yellow” team failed to win a second consecutive victory at the 2026 FIFA U-18 World Cup: they lost 4:6 in a high-scoring match.
Switzerland and Kazakhstan have secured the top spot in the standings after the second round, defeating Slovenia and Poland, respectively, with identical scores of 10:2.

- Switzerland — Slovenia 10:2 (5:0, 1:1, 4:1)
- Kazakhstan — Poland 10:2 (2:1, 1:1, 7:0)
Thanks to the better goal difference, Switzerland leads the standings in Division IA of the 2026 World Cup. Ukraine, on the other hand, finishes the second round of the U17 World Championship in fourth place, having dropped one position after the first round.

In the third round, Ukraine will face Kazakhstan, while top-seeded Switzerland will face Hungary, and Slovenia will face Poland. All second-round matches will take place on Tuesday, April 21.
