Netflix is updating its mobile app and adding a vertical video feed. The new format will help you find content faster and make the service more like a social network.
Streaming platform Netflix is preparing a major update to its mobile app. In its Q1 2026 report, the company confirmed the launch of a new design with a vertical video feed, which will be available by the end of April. Digital trends writes about this.
How will searching for content on Netflix change?
It's a format similar to TikTok , where users can scroll through short clips and trailers right on the home screen. This approach should simplify the selection of movies and TV shows, allowing them to quickly evaluate content before watching.
Netflix conducted the first tests of this feature back in early 2025. Then, as part of the beta version, a feed with short vertical videos appeared that could be viewed, flipped through, and opened in full format.
The new tool allows you to jump straight to watching , add a title to a list, or share it. The feed spans a variety of genres, not just humorous content like the previous Fast Laughs format.
Vertical video is becoming increasingly popular among other services, for example, Disney+ has already launched the Verts feature with a similar feed, and Peacock has even added AI content and personalized feeds.
In addition, Netflix is launching a separate app called Netflix Playground for kids under 8. It features games with characters like Peppa Pig and Elmo. The service is ad-free and includes in-app purchases and is included with the standard subscription.
Playground is currently available in several countries, with a global launch scheduled for April 28. In this way, Netflix is expanding not only the way you watch content, but also the overall entertainment ecosystem.
