Marta Kostyuk reached the final of the WTA tournament for the fifth time in her career

Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk became the first finalist of the WTA 250 tournament in Rouen, France. In the semifinals, the Ukrainian defeated German Tetyana Maria in straight sets.

In the semifinals of the WTA 250 tournament in Rouen, Kostyuk faced German tennis player Tatiana Maria. Before that, the athletes had met twice in head-to-head matches, and in both cases the Ukrainian was victorious. Kostyuk won both times with a score of 2:0.

For Kostyuk, this is also her second WTA final in 2026: she lost to Aryna Sabalenka in Brisbane in January. In total, the Ukrainian has only one championship title in her career: she triumphed in Austin in 2023.

How was the match?

  • The tennis players started the first set by exchanging games, and with the score 2:2, Kostyuk managed to take the lead, and in the end, the Ukrainian won the four games she needed and finished the match with a score of 6:3.
  • In the second, decisive set, Kostyuk left no chance for her opponent and ended the match with a crushing victory with a score of 6:0.
  • The match between Kostiuk and Maria lasted exactly an hour, during which time the tennis players made an equal number of aces and double faults – two each. Kostiuk won 74% of the points on serve and 55% of the points on reception. While the German achieved only 45% and 26% in these indicators.

In the final, Kostyuk will face the winner of the match between another Ukrainian, Veronika Podrez, and Romanian Sorana Kirsti. The final match of the tournament will take place on Sunday, April 19.
