Analysis of weapons use and improvement of AI models: Ukraine and Germany begin exchange of defense data

Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and his German counterpart Boris Pistorius signed the first-ever agreement on the exchange of defense data from the battlefield on April 14, which provides for a joint analysis of the use of weapons, as well as the exchange of combat data and developments.

Fedorov wrote about this in Telegram.

“Together with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, we signed Ukraine's first agreement on the exchange of defense data with partners. The memorandum was signed with the participation of President Volodymyr Zelensky and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz,” the report says.

It is noted that within the framework of this agreement, it is planned to launch joint projects, one of which is the analysis of the use of weapons. This involves studying the use of German systems, such as the PzH 2000 The Panzerhaubitze 2000 (PzH 2000) is a German 155 mm self-propelled artillery mount (SAM) developed by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and adopted by the Bundeswehr in 1998. , RCH 155 The RCH 155 (Remote Controlled Howitzer 155mm) is a state-of-the-art German wheeled 155mm self-propelled artillery system developed by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KNDS). It is based on the chassis of the Boxer 8×8 armored personnel carrier, features high mobility, a fully automated AGM combat module and the ability to fire while moving. and IRIS-T The IRIS-T (Infra Red Imaging System Tail/Thrust Vector-Controlled) is a modern German medium-range anti-aircraft missile (AMS) system manufactured by Diehl Defence. It is designed to destroy aircraft, helicopters, drones and cruise missiles, with a range of up to 40 km. , based on combat data, which should increase the effectiveness of their application and improve tactics.

The exchange of combat data and developments is also envisaged. Ukraine will provide partners with access to unique data from the battlefield for training and improving AI models and analytical systems. According to Fedorov, this is the first defense artificial intelligence development project of this scale in the world.

In particular, partners will gain access to unique combat data from DELTA and other digital platforms, which will contribute to the development of technologies and the strengthening of their own capabilities. This is a win-win model The win-win model (“win-win”) is a strategy of negotiations and interaction, in which all parties achieve their goals and benefit. of a new type of defense cooperation, added the head of the Ukrainian defense ministry.

“I am grateful to the President for his leadership in the international arena — it helps to attract partners and systematically cover Ukraine's key defense needs. Today, Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed to Germany an important bilateral agreement in the field of drones — a drone deal. And our teams are already working on further steps,” Fedorov wrote.

In addition, as a result of the agreements between the leaders, specific decisions were made regarding the supply of weapons: in particular, PAC-2 missiles and launchers for IRIS-T systems, which Ukraine will receive from partners over several years to strengthen the protection of Ukrainian skies.
