Briton Tyson Fury defeated Russian Arslanbek Makhmudov in his first fight after returning to boxing, winning the fight at Tottenham Stadium in London.
The former world champion fought his first fight in a year and a half, after losing to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024. He lost the WBC heavyweight championship title to the Ukrainian, and also lost the rematch by unanimous decision – the defeats were the first in his professional career.
In early 2025, the Briton announced his retirement, but has repeatedly stated that he wants to return and finish his career “on his own terms.” It was later reported that Fury had announced his return to the ring in July for a trilogy fight with Usyk.
Fury eventually made a comeback fight against Russian boxer Arslanbek Makhmudov (21-2, 19 KOs), 36. The Russian last fought in October 2025, defeating Englishman Dave Allen by unanimous decision.
In the fight, the difference in strikes was striking: Fury outscored his opponent by almost four times in accurate strikes — 199:59. The Briton's advantage in aimed power strikes was even greater — 76:7.
The fight went the full 12 rounds, with Fury winning by unanimous decision 120-108, 120-108, 119-109. It was his first win since October 2023 and the 35th of his career.
For the third time in a row, Fury's fight lasted all 12 rounds: both of his fights with Usyk also ended in decisions. In October 2023, Francis Ngannou, a former mixed martial artist, also went the full 10 rounds against the Briton, losing to the then WBC champion by split decision.
During the fight with Makhmudov, Fury added to his accurate blows: if in the first round he was limited to five aimed blows, in the final three he hit his opponent at least 23 times.
The Russian landed no more than eight accurate punches per round (8/29 in the fourth). Over the 12 rounds, Makhmudov had 21.1% of his punches on target — 59 out of 280. 15 of them landed in Fury's body.
