Ukrainian Polina Bugrova reached the quarterfinals of the 2026 European Badminton Championship in women's singles.
At the European Championships in Huelva, Spain, 22-year-old Bugrova began her individual competition as the sixth seed in the women's singles tournament. In the world ranking, the Ukrainian is in 45th position as of early July.
How Bugrova performs at Euro 2026
- Starting directly from the second round, Bugrova defeated Italian Gianna Stiglich in two games in her first match — 21:12, 21:10.
- Also, the match with Turkish Ozge Bayrak in the third round ended in two games – 21:14 and 21:9 in favor of the Ukrainian, which allowed Bugrova to advance to the quarterfinals.
- For the first time in her career, Bugrova will play at the quarterfinal level. Since 2025, her personal record at the continental championship has been reaching the 1/8 finals, when the Ukrainian, also as the sixth seed, lost to Bayrak after winning the first game.
In the quarterfinals of the singles, Bugrova will play against Danish badminton player Mia Blichvelt on Friday, April 10, at 2:00 p.m. Kyiv time. In case of victory, the Ukrainian guarantees herself a place on the podium – the semifinalists are guaranteed at least a “bronze”.
Reaching the semifinals would also mean a “medal double” for Bugrova at the Euros in Huelva. Polina has already reached the semifinals in doubles, in tandem with Evgenia Kantimir, and will play against seeded leaders Gabriela and Stefani Stoyeva from Bulgaria.
