
In Kyiv, two deputy directors of the branch of the “Center for Track Construction and Repair” were charged with embezzlement of 4.4 million hryvnias during the purchase of equipment for locomotives.
This was reported on Thursday, April 9, by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
According to the investigation, in 2023, officials signed a contract with a private company to supply equipment for railway locomotives. At the same time, they purchased at significantly inflated prices. As a result, Ukrzaliznytsia suffered losses of more than 4.4 million hryvnias.
The suspects are charged under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on embezzlement of property on an especially large scale. The sanction of the article provides for 7 to 12 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for up to three years and confiscation of property.
