Iran accused the United States of attacking an oil refinery on Labuan Island on April 8 after the ceasefire was announced. Tehran said it had struck Kuwait, Bahrain and the UAE in retaliation for attacks on its oil facilities, which it blamed on the United States and Israel.
This was reported by Reuters with reference to the Shana agency, The Times of Israel and Clash Report.
The National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company said the facility was hit at around 10:00 a.m. (08:30 Kyiv time), adding that security and firefighting teams were working to contain the flames and secure the scene. No one was injured in the attack.
Clash Report published a video of the alleged consequences of the attack on the Lavan refinery.
When asked by reporters whether the Israeli military was involved in the strike on the oil refinery, Israeli military spokesman Nadav Shoshani said: “No, (we) were not involved.”
The US also did not report the attack.
Iranian state television reported that Tehran had retaliated against Kuwait and the UAE after a morning attack on oil facilities.
The authorities of the UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain today announced air defense operations against Iranian missiles and drones.
At the same time, US President Donald Trump announced his readiness for further contacts with Iran.
“The United States will work closely with Iran, which we have determined has gone through a regime change process that will prove to be very fruitful! There will be no uranium enrichment, and the United States, together with Iran, will dig up and remove all deeply buried (B-2 bombers) nuclear 'dust'… We are and will continue to negotiate with Iran to lift tariffs and sanctions. Many of the 15 points have already been agreed upon,” he wrote in Truth Social.
Trump emphasized that Iranian uranium is and will be under very strict satellite surveillance, mentioning the US Space Force, and said that since the attack on Iran, “everything has remained untouched.”
