Aggregators will play a significant role in the common electricity market of both Ukraine and Europe, helping, in particular, consumers to function effectively in this market, believes the Chairman of the Board of Ukrenergo Vitaliy Zaichenko.
“Aggregators will be one of the leading players in the future market. In Europe, this concept is already quite developed, and one of the aspects of the flexibility of the energy system is adaptability on the part of the consumer. It is the aggregators that will provide consumers with the opportunity to benefit from their consumption,” Zaichenko said during a broadcast with Olga Babiy on the YouTube channel of the Kyiv School of Public Administration Media.
He noted that energy is not just a commodity, but a consumption schedule, where the cost can vary at different times, and aggregators will help consumers work with maximum efficiency.
Zaychenko also expressed the opinion that electricity traders are best prepared to work in the single market, since they already have experience in Europe.
“Traders are quite well prepared for European integration, but at the same time they do not yet cover all segments; they will also need more training, software updates, and team development,” added the Chairman of the Board of Ukrenergo.
As reported, in an interview with the Internet portal “Energy Reform”, D.TRADING Commercial Director Dmitry Maliar called the aggregator a key element for increasing the efficiency of distributed generation. According to him, an aggregator is a company representing the interests of various generating entities of distributed generation that do not want or cannot independently operate in the electricity market. In his opinion, an aggregator allows a professional trader to represent such producers in many market segments, determine their trading strategy and be responsible for managing market positions in order to optimize the financial results of this business.
