Samsung is preparing a reform of the Galaxy S27 line

Samsung is preparing changes for its main line of flagship smartphones. Instead of the usual trio of devices, users may see an expanded lineup next year.

What will Samsung's flagship Galaxy S27 series be like?

The South Korean tech giant is planning to change the structure of the Galaxy S series, which has remained largely unchanged since 2020. According to the plans of the mobile experience division, next year's Galaxy S27 lineup will consist of four models: standard, Plus, new Pro and Ultra. This decision is aimed at giving consumers a wider choice and more effectively competing with Apple, which has long used a system of four devices, writes AndroidAuthority.

The new model with the Pro prefix is located between the Plus and Ultra versions. The main idea is to offer users most of the advanced technologies of the most expensive smartphone, but without some specific features. In particular, the Pro model will inherit almost all the key characteristics from the Ultra, but will remain without support for the S Pen electronic pen. This approach will allow creating a device for those who seek maximum performance and the best cameras, but do not need the functionality of the stylus.

One of the key features of the upcoming Galaxy S27 Pro is expected to be the Privacy Display technology, which has already generated significant interest in the current generation of smartphones. This innovation first appeared in the Galaxy S26 Ultra model, and now the manufacturer plans to expand its use to two top devices of the new series.

The Pro model is also expected to receive technologies that will significantly differentiate it from the base and Plus versions, as was the case with the 200-megapixel camera in previous Ultra generations, writes ETNews.

The fight with Apple and other reasons

The decision to add a new model is a strategic move, not a simple replacement for existing devices. Previously, the company experimented with the release of the Galaxy S25 Edge, which was thinner than regular smartphones and was supposed to replace the Plus version. However, after analyzing consumer reactions, plans for a replacement were abandoned, returning to the classic Plus model. Now, the Galaxy S27 Pro is being created as an addition to the existing system in order to maximize market coverage.

In addition to competition with Apple, economic factors may also be behind the expansion of the line. Analysts suggest that the appearance of the Pro model may serve as a buffer in case the cost of the Galaxy S27 Ultra increases. Given the global crisis in the RAM market, prices for flagship devices continue to rise, so the presence of a more affordable option from the premium sector will allow maintaining customer loyalty.

Exact specifications, such as screen size, have not yet been finalized.
