Ukraine is preparing for the first deliveries of peas to China / Collage of Channel 24
China recently opened its market to a new Ukrainian product. In connection with this, a list of domestic enterprises that will be able to export the product has already begun to be compiled.
What product will Ukraine export to China?
Documents on phytosanitary procedures must be submitted by April 20. The details were provided by the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection.
Recall that Ukrainian producers of legumes are actively looking for the most profitable sales markets, and the key factor remains price. Therefore, despite the willingness of European partners to cooperate, their offers are often inferior in profitability to other directions.
For example, the Ukrainian Bean and Soybean Association pays special attention to working with China, although its requirements are quite strict.
However, already in March, this Asian country, based on the results of the audit, opened its market to imports of Ukrainian peas.
The appropriate solution creates new opportunities for domestic farmers and expands Ukraine's export presence in one of the largest global food markets,
– the State Food and Consumer Protection Service emphasized.
So now Ukraine is preparing to supply products to China, in particular, it is known about the formation of the following lists of enterprises:
- for processing or storing peas exported to the PRC (2 business entities have already been registered);
- who plan to export peas to China (3 companies included);
- who grow peas for export to China (there are already 4 entities).
Please note that before submitting documents for inclusion in the relevant list, Ukrainian enterprises are recommended to familiarize themselves with the relevant Roadmap. In addition, sample applications can be found at the link.
Important! Documents certifying the conduct of phytosanitary procedures in 2025 must be sent to the email address [email protected] by April 20, 2026.
Are Ukrainian peas really better?
As a reminder, the Ukrainian Bean and Soybean Association previously said that “a lot” of requirements must be met for exports to China. In particular, the Asian country included items in the protocol that were not included for other crops.
And what is very important – the Chinese side officially recognized: Ukrainian peas surpass the quality of the products of the aggressor country (Russia – Channel 24) and fully correspond to Canadian ones,
– the organization said.
By the way, peas from Canada are considered a benchmark in the world, so Ukraine has a chance to become a long-term supplier.
However, Russia remains a key exporter of crops to China. For example, in January-February 2026, its share was 75% (138 thousand tons) of the Asian country's total purchases, propaganda media reported.
