The situation at the front – a soldier told how the fighting changed with the arrival of spring

Main points

  • Strong winds made it more difficult to use drones on the frontline.
  • Andriy Otchenash, an officer of the Rubizh brigade of the NGU, told how the fighting changed with the arrival of spring.

Weather changes have a certain impact on combat operations. Strong winds are somewhat complicating the work of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Andriy Otchenash, an officer of the Rubizh brigade of the NGU, told Channel 24 that as of now, the Russians have favorable weather conditions. It is more difficult to use drones in strong winds. The enemy is now trying to take advantage of this, but it is not so simple.

How are the Russians trying to get into position?

According to the military officer, Russian soldiers usually don't know where exactly they need to go. They just make their way, and one of the drones leads them to a position.

Relatively speaking, they gave him maps, and then they lead him around by drone and radio station. If the drone cannot do its job efficiently, then they cannot recruit personnel efficiently. Accordingly, their movement is not as efficient,
– said Otchenash.

Despite this, the occupiers continue to use ATVs, motorcycles, and cars to get into positions. The defense forces are knocking out this equipment.

Who has the advantage in technology now?

According to the military, ground robotic complexes are increasingly being used on the battlefield. If earlier the delivery of ammunition, food, and other important resources was carried out either on foot or by transport, now this can be done with the help of NRCs.

No matter how expensive they are, we need thousands of such NRCs. Objectively, this is how we save the lives of our soldiers. The Russians are lagging behind us in this area. They have significantly fewer ground-based robotic complexes,
– the soldier noted.

Despite this, the enemy has a numerical advantage in FPV drones. For example, during March, the Russians hit over 5,000 such drones in the Rubizh brigade's area of responsibility alone. If we talk about the entire front, then there will be colossal numbers.

It is important for Ukraine to develop in the direction of fiber-optic drones. In addition, it is necessary to provide maximum financial support to engineers, scientists, and radio electronics engineers who are developing unmanned aircraft systems.
– said Otchenash.

What is the situation at the front?

  • Volodymyr Nazarenko, acting commander of the “Force of Freedom” battalion of the 4th brigade of the Rubizh National Guard, told how the enemy's attacks have changed with the arrival of spring. The Russians are now suffering significant losses.
  • As of April 6, Russia had lost over 1 million 304 thousand personnel. Our defenders also destroyed 11,841 tanks, 24,360 armored combat vehicles, 39,497 artillery systems, etc.
  • OSINT analyst Kyle Glen also noted that Russian air defense losses have increased significantly in recent months. Thus, in 2026, at least 85 different anti-aircraft missile systems were hit.
