Zelenskyy gave details of the trilateral talks in the Ukraine-Turkey-Syria format

During the visit of the Ukrainian delegation to Damascus, led by President Volodymyr Zelensky, trilateral negotiations were held there in the Ukraine-Turkey-Syria format.

The head of state announced this following a visit to the Syrian capital on April 5.

“An important day of negotiations in Damascus – today there was a bilateral format with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, and negotiations with the participation of our teams, and there was a trilateral conversation – Ukraine, Syria, Turkey. We are building new relationships, new opportunities, and expanding work for the sake of security,” he said.

According to him, the parties discussed security and defense issues, as well as the situation in the region due to all the events surrounding Iran. In addition, energy and infrastructure cooperation between the three states was also discussed.

“We will also continue to work on food security. We talked in detail about how to overcome the consequences of the war and about the negotiation process regarding Russia's war against our state and people,” the president added.

On April 5, Zelensky arrived in Syria for the first time on an official visit, where he was scheduled to have a number of meetings. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also flew to Damascus with the Ukrainian leader.

On April 4, the head of state visited Turkey, where he met with his Turkish counterpart Recep Erdogan. Among other things, the parties agreed on new steps in security cooperation between Kyiv and Ankara.
