The EU Council imposed new restrictive measures against Belarus on August 3 in connection with Moscow's illegal invasion of Ukraine and in response to the Republic of Belarus' invvement in the aggression.

That's according to the Eurean Commission's website, Ukrinform reports.

In particular, the new measures form a closer alignment of EU sanctions against Russia and Belarus and will help ensure that Russian sanctions cannot be circumvented through Belarus.

Thus, the ban on exports to Belarus of a number of particularly sensitive goods and technogies that contribute to Belarus' military and technical progress is extended.

The EU Council also implements an additional ban on the export of firearms and ammunition, goods and technogies suitable for use in the aviation and space industries. The amendments also align sanctions against Belarus with the sanctions regime against Russia.
