The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is introducing war risk insurance and grants for the restoration of agrarian business and is discussing logistics issues in front-line regions.
This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko following a meeting with representatives of the agrarian business.
“Farmers are working under shelling, losing people, equipment, and infrastructure, but they continue production, supporting communities, the economy, and food security,” she said.
The Prime Minister presented tools to support agribusiness:
- war risk insurance – compensation for up to UAH 30 million in losses;
- grants for restoration in the amount of up to UAH 16 million for damaged equipment.
Separately, the meeting discussed logistics issues in front-line regions.
According to Svyrydenko, key issues are being worked on:
- protection of farmers during sowing and harvesting;
- unhindered export of grain;
- program to provide farmers with electronic warfare equipment.
“The government is also working on compensating for losses due to the construction of fortifications on agricultural lands. Bill No. 14117 passed the first reading in the relevant committee and is awaiting consideration in the chamber,” Svyrydenko noted.
According to her, a separate focus is on farmers in a 20-kilometer zone from the front line.
“We are forming a list of territories in the State Agrarian Register and targeted support programs,” the Prime Minister said.
The meeting also discussed European integration changes important for the agricultural sector: environmental requirements, environmental impact assessment, tax rules. Svyrydenko instructed to ensure constant dialogue with business “to form a negotiating position on EU accession.”
