In Kyiv, a man sprayed tear gas in a minibus: he was served with a suspicion

The capital's law enforcement officers reported a 27-year-old man on suspicion of hooliganism for spraying a gas canister in a crowded minibus. According to the investigation, this happened when the driver asked the man to pay for the fare, but he refused, identifying himself as a military serviceman, but did not provide the appropriate ID.

This was reported to the Kyiv police.

The police were called by the minibus driver and reported the attack. The driver said that the passenger refused to pay for the fare, claiming that he was a military serviceman and therefore had benefits, and when the driver asked him to provide supporting documents, he sprayed tear gas inside the passenger compartment.

Law enforcement officers soon detained the suspect. He turned out to be a 27-year-old Kyiv resident who was in the military unit (unauthorized abandonment). He was handed over to the military law enforcement service.

The case is being investigated under Part 1 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – hooliganism. The man faces up to five years of imprisonment.
